Virgin Atlantic to partner with Antigua Sailing Week once again
Antigua Sailing Week has secured a major travel partner for its 2026 staging, with Virgin Atlantic officially returning as the event’s transatlantic airline sponsor.
The internationally recognised regatta will take place from April 22 to 26, 2026, and organisers say the renewed partnership strengthens Antigua’s position as a premier global sailing destination.
Virgin Atlantic’s return follows a short break in collaboration and signals renewed confidence in both the event and the island’s tourism product. The airline will provide preferred fares for travellers flying from the United Kingdom to Antigua, giving crews, charter groups and spectators more accessible travel options ahead of the competition.
The UK remains one of the strongest source markets for Antigua Sailing Week, with hundreds of sailors and supporters travelling annually to participate in and witness the high-energy racing and vibrant shoreside festivities. The direct London–Antigua route continues to play a critical role in maintaining that connection.
Rana-Jamila Lewis of Antigua Sailing Week welcomed the announcement, describing it as an important step in strengthening international participation.
She noted that Virgin Atlantic’s involvement not only enhances the event’s profile but also reinforces Antigua’s reputation as a world-class sailing and tourism hub. The special travel rates, she added, are expected to encourage strong turnout from UK and European competitors for what organisers anticipate will be an outstanding 2026 edition.
Sean Edwards of Virgin Atlantic said the airline is proud to renew its association with Antigua Sailing Week, highlighting the shared values of energy, excellence and global appeal. He expressed enthusiasm about welcoming sailors and supporters onboard as they travel to the Caribbean for one of the region’s most celebrated regattas.
With airlift support now confirmed, anticipation is already building for the 2026 competition, which remains one of Antigua and Barbuda’s flagship sporting and tourism events, drawing international competitors, visitors and media attention each year.
