Antigua and Barbuda has strengthened its regional air links with the launch of a new non-stop flight service connecting the twin-island nation with the Dominican Republic.
Tourism and aviation officials are celebrating the introduction of Sunrise Airways’ direct service between Santo Domingo’s Las Américas International Airport (SDQ) and Antigua’s V.C. Bird International Airport (ANU), which officially began operations on Tuesday, March 3, 2026.
The new route will operate twice weekly, on Tuesdays and Saturdays, providing a convenient connection between the two Caribbean destinations and supporting efforts to boost regional travel, tourism, and business exchanges.

On Tuesdays, flights depart Santo Domingo at 1:00 p.m. and arrive in Antigua at 2:35 p.m. The return flight leaves Antigua at 3:20 p.m. On Saturdays, the service departs Santo Domingo at 9:00 a.m., arriving in Antigua at 10:35 a.m., with the return leg leaving Antigua at 11:20 a.m.
Officials say the new service represents an important step toward strengthening intra-Caribbean connectivity, making it easier for travelers to move between the islands while supporting tourism growth and economic ties between Antigua and Barbuda and the Dominican Republic.
The addition of the Sunrise Airways route is also expected to create new opportunities for tourism, trade, and cultural exchange between the two destinations as regional travel demand continues to grow.
