Two men accused of going on a destructive rampage during the Soca Sangria event on November 2 appeared before Chief Magistrate Ngaio Emanuel earlier this week, with the cases against them moving in opposite directions.

Richards, 19, and Simon, 26, face multiple charges stemming from that night, including breaking the glass of several vehicles and stealing from at least one. Among the items allegedly taken were a jeep key, Versace perfume, lotion, air pods and other belongings totalling $977 in value. That matter has been adjourned to June 2.

The pair also face charges of malicious damage to vehicle glass valued at $1,075, $3,241 and $3,750 respectively, as well as damage to a bumper and mirrors assessed at $5,356.

In the matter concerning the $3,750 damage, Richards pleaded not guilty on Wednesday and the charge against him was subsequently withdrawn. Simon pleaded guilty to the same charge and was ordered to pay $3,750 in compensation within two months. Should he fail to do so, he will serve one year in prison.

Other matters arising from the same night were adjourned to May 20 and May 26.
