Speaking to Antigua.news during a gathering of workers, the union representative said employees have been raising concerns since December 2025, particularly about conditions at several APUA facilities.

According to the union, health and safety issues affecting workers have not been properly addressed despite repeated complaints.

  3. If workers are raising health and safety concerns for months and nothing is happening, then clearly something is wrong with management’s response. People spend most of their day at work, the environment should be safe.

  4. I think the public sometimes forgets that behind every electricity line, water pipe, or telecom system are workers who risk their safety to keep services running. If those workers are now saying their health and safety are being ignored, the situation deserves serious attention from the authorities.

Pension concerns are another issue that cannot be taken lightly. Many employees dedicate decades of their lives to these organizations with the expectation that their retirement benefits will be secure. Any uncertainty about pensions naturally creates anxiety among workers.
