The announcement was made by Health Minister Sir Molwyn Joseph during the official opening of the Medical Benefits Pharmacy at the facility, where he outlined key upgrades aimed at improving access to emergency care.
According to the Minister, the Government has already secured a dedicated ambulance for the polyclinic. The vehicle has been shipped and is currently en route to Antigua and Barbuda. Once it arrives and is fully commissioned, emergency ambulance services are expected to begin within days.
The introduction of this service marks a significant step forward in strengthening emergency response capabilities in the eastern region. Residents facing urgent medical situations will benefit from faster transport to critical care, potentially improving outcomes in life-threatening situations.
Communities set to benefit include Glanvilles, Freetown, Pares, Seatons, Willikies, Newfield, Bethesda, and surrounding areas—many of which have long faced challenges accessing rapid emergency transport.
Sir Molwyn Joseph emphasized that this development is part of a broader government push to decentralize healthcare services and bring critical medical support closer to where people live.

Looking ahead, the Health Minister also pointed to plans for further expansion of the country’s primary healthcare network. He indicated that a third polyclinic will eventually be needed to adequately serve Antigua’s southern corridor, with proposed coverage stretching from Golden Grove to Old Road.
The upcoming launch of ambulance services at the Glanvilles Polyclinic represents another milestone in the Government’s ongoing efforts to modernize healthcare infrastructure, enhance emergency response, and ensure equitable access to quality care for all residents—regardless of location.
