Dominican Community Pledges Support for ABLP Ahead of General Elections

Alex Martinez and Minister Daryll Matthew

Dominicans living in Antigua and Barbuda are preparing to rally behind the ruling Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party (ABLP) in the upcoming general election, according to community advocate Alex Martinez.

Martinez said there is growing momentum within the Dominican diaspora in support of the ABLP, citing what he described as the party’s track record on economic development, stability, and opportunities for Caribbean nationals residing in the country.

“Dominicans with Labour are ready,” Martinez stated, adding that many in the community believe the current administration has created an environment where regional nationals can live, work, and contribute meaningfully to national development.

He noted that members of the Dominican community have been quietly mobilising, holding discussions and encouraging eligible voters to participate in the electoral process.

“We are encouraging our people to come out and support a government that has shown leadership and vision,” Martinez said.

The show of support comes at a time when political activity is intensifying across Antigua and Barbuda, with Prime Minister Gaston Browne having indicated that general elections are due within a 90-day window.

Martinez emphasized that the Dominican community’s involvement is rooted in a desire to see continued progress and regional unity.

“This is about supporting progress, stability, and a future that benefits everyone living here,” he said.
