Labour Department corrects public holiday list
The Labour Department has issued a formal notice correcting an error in the 2026 list of public holidays, confirming that the National Day of Prayer will be observed on September 10, 2026.
According to the Office of the Labour Commissioner, the previously published dates in the Official Gazette (Nos. 60 and 61) contained an incorrect listing for the observance. Authorities have now released an updated and corrected schedule under the Public Holidays (Amendment) Act 2005.
The revised list of public holidays for 2026 is as follows:
January 1 – New Year’s Day
April 3 – Good Friday
April 6 – Easter Monday
May 4 – Labour Day
May 25 – Whit Monday
August 3 – Carnival Monday
August 4 – Carnival Tuesday
September 10 – National Day of Prayer
November 1 – Independence Day
December 9 – V.C. Bird Day
December 25 – Christmas Day
December 26 – Boxing Day
Officials also noted that Independence Day, which falls on Sunday, November 1, will be observed on Monday, November 2, 2026.
The Labour Department is urging the public, businesses, and institutions to take note of the correction and adjust their calendars accordingly.
The notice was issued under the authority of the Labour Commissioner as part of efforts to ensure accuracy in national observances.

But what was the discrepancy? Anyway thank you
