Victoria Charlton of the Antigua and Barbuda Red Cross Society explains new disaster awareness portal (screenshot of state media)
The Red Cross, alongside its partners, has launched a new digital platform aimed at bolstering disaster awareness throughout the region. Victoria Charlton, the Programs and Operations Coordinator for the Antigua and Barbuda Red Cross Society, states that the Caribbean Risk Portal provides clear, visual guidance on preparing for storms, earthquakes, and floods.
The portal can be accessed at Caribbean-Risks.org and is described as a comprehensive resource hub for information on risks and natural hazards.

“This is a portal dedicated to the Caribbean region regarding natural hazards… it offers us practical tips,” Charlton explained.
She also emphasized that the tool features island-specific information. Users can navigate an interactive map, allowing them to select their home county – including Antigua & Barbuda – and discover historical data on the risks relevant to their territory. Additionally, the tool is anticipated to facilitate cooperation between islands.
As the storm season approaches, Charlton underscores the necessity of being prepared.
“A lot of us… are aware that hurricane season runs from June to November. But are we truly taking the necessary steps?” she asked, noting that floods and earthquakes are also included in the portal’s focus.
It’s easy to get on the portal: visit Caribbean-Risks.org from your phone or computer.

This is actually really cool, finally something useful for hurricane season.
Hope everyone actually checks it out before it’s too late.
I highly doubt people will be flocking to this new platform. They are more inclined to gravitate to social media platforms
