Cabinet provides airfare subsidy for flights between Antigua and Barbuda
The Cabinet of Antigua and Barbuda has taken steps to address the rising cost of air travel between Antigua and Barbuda, approving a monthly subsidy aimed at easing the financial burden on residents.
The decision follows a presentation by newly appointed Barbuda caretaker for the Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party, Kendra Beazer, who raised concerns about sharply increasing airfare prices on the route. The issue, he noted, has been compounded by limited transportation options, placing added strain on residents and affecting economic activity.
Cabinet members acknowledged that affordable and reliable travel between the sister islands is critical, particularly for access to healthcare, business, and daily life for Barbudans.
In response, the Government has approved a subsidy of $50,000 per month to help reduce ticket prices and improve accessibility.
Beazer has been tasked with engaging relevant agencies to determine how the subsidy will be structured and implemented.
The move forms part of broader efforts by the Government to ensure equitable access to transportation and to address ongoing concerns about the cost of inter-island travel.

I REALLY HOPE THIS HELPS CAUSE THE SITUATION SOUNDS DIRE
