
Jaeda Pigott has qualified for the final of the Girls 800 metres Under-17 event at the CARIFTA Games, advancing from Heat 2 of the preliminary round after finishing second with a time of 2:18.03.
The 15-year-old settled into sixth position through the first lap, recording a split of 1:07.60, before closing strongly in 1:10.44 to cross second in her heat and secure automatic qualification for the final.
Trinidad and Tobago’s Nyla Kerr won heat 2 with a time of 2:17.98, with Jamaica’s Aneka Lowe finishing in third, behind Pigott, with a time 2:18.55 to also advance automatically.
Safiya Prasad of the US Virgin Islands and Fallon Siriban of Haiti rounded out the eight-athlete final field as the two fastest non-automatic qualifiers, clocking 2:19.69 and 2:21.23 respectively.
