The Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda is urging residents and visitors to exercise caution and responsibility as the nation observes the traditional Easter Monday holiday today.
Easter Monday is widely known for beach outings, camping, and social gatherings across the island—often accompanied by increased alcohol consumption.
In a public advisory, police reminded the public to prioritise safety while enjoying holiday activities, particularly in high-traffic areas such as beaches and popular recreational spots.
Authorities are encouraging individuals to remain aware of their surroundings and to take personal safety seriously. Special attention is being placed on vulnerable groups, including minors and the elderly, with beachgoers urged to remain vigilant at all times.
Campers and sea bathers are also advised to closely monitor weather and sea conditions, as changing marine activity could pose risks along the coastline.
Police further reiterated that the sale of alcohol is strictly prohibited on Good Friday. Business owners and vendors were warned to comply with the law or risk having their liquor licences revoked.
A strong warning has also been issued against drinking and driving. Officials stress that driving under the influence remains extremely dangerous, and motorists are encouraged to make alternative arrangements such as using designated drivers or other transportation options.
Police say patrols will be increased throughout the Easter weekend as part of ongoing efforts to maintain public order and ensure a safe environment across the island.
The Royal Police Force is extending best wishes to the public for a safe, peaceful, and enjoyable Easter holiday.
