Building Supplies Shipment to Boost Housing Repairs for Vulnerable Families Next Week

A new shipment of essential building materials is expected to arrive in Antigua and Barbuda next week, as the Government ramps up efforts to improve housing conditions for vulnerable and low-income households.

Cabinet has confirmed that additional building supplies will soon reach the island, following earlier approval of measures aimed at strengthening the country’s housing assistance programme.

The incoming materials are expected to play a critical role in accelerating repairs and upgrades to homes across the nation, particularly for residents facing urgent structural challenges.

Officials say the supplies will be used to address key issues such as damaged roofs, weakened structures, and deteriorating wooden boards, problems that have left many households exposed to unsafe living conditions.

The initiative is already underway, with lumber and other materials being distributed island-wide to eligible homeowners. Beneficiaries include seniors, persons with disabilities, and families experiencing financial hardship.

The Government says the programme forms part of a broader social intervention strategy focused on improving the quality of the country’s housing stock and raising overall living standards.

By ensuring access to building materials, the administration aims to support homeowners in making necessary repairs while promoting safer, more resilient communities.

  1. Is this a government project or an ABLP initiative. Cause I’ve never seen a UPP MP or caretaker participating in this. All I see is ABLP ministers posing with people what about UPP MP’s were they given wood to distribute too?
I know Labor have all the good wood but it wouldn’t hurt to share

  2. They seem to be using them for Bill boards though
