  4. Pringle needs to stop selling clouds to the public and be serious. There is nothing any administration can do to get Antigua’s name off the visa bond list, until at least August when the US initiates its review process.

Lets be clear on the facts here. There are more than 50 countries on that list, do anyone know how many has gotten their name off since the first announcement of a visa bond or visa restriction. Effectively one. Mali. Mali did so by essentially instituting its own visa bond on the US which it could do because it wasn’t dependent on US access, was already moving toward China and Russia as its strategic allies and US businesses access to Mali natural resources was of interest to the US interest. Antigua doesn’t have the natural resources or the ability to withstand any pressure from the US government like Mali.

Another thing: Despite Antigua having one of the more stringent rules in obtaining a CIP passport, we were put on the list next to Dominica. We know that the residency requirement that the US claims was the issue was already addressed in the passage and implementation of the regional ECCIRA which takes much of the regulatory power out of government hands. So unless Pringle is saying he wants to increase the regional benchmark of a 30 day residency requirement that was recently agreed to by all CIP governments to more than that, which will put our programme at a material disadvantage and cost government revenue, I doubt his claim will go far.

Additionally, what relationship or influence does the UPP think it has with the Trump administration? Is Pringle planning to cozy up to the US like Kamla’s Trinidad which has become the mockery of the Caribbean or what? And if the UPP had this so-called influence in the US, why not use it now instead of claiming you need to be in government to use it.

Antigua’s best-case scenario is a quiet, technocratic removal after the August 2026 review, contingent on the ECCIRA framework operating long enough to satisfy US vetting concerns and visa overstays (as weak of an argument that was from the US) being reduced.

This is what happens when you have a guy whose only contribution to public policy for 8 years is to cry and walk out of Parliament and no one in the party takes public policy seriously.

  5. Fix the restrictions on yourself first. Gaston has more links than you and you think it’s easy to come in and do such a thing? Man it’s easy to speak from outside the queue and make promises that will fail. We won’t buy this lie. LAYYYYYBOUUURRRRRRR ON ELECTION DAY

    • Sometimes Mr. Carter, you can let a person show their colors. I’m not no political person. Really and truly, as long as I have God I don’t care who running this country. But you never know what Jamale can come and change. They people gave ABLP a chance back in 2014. It’s there choice if they want ABLP here still. Let the man talk, the action will prove

  8. Anyone who believes this is just as stupid. Seriously..
The visa restriction has more to do with US policy than with anything Antigua did. Let Mr. Pringle explain all the other countries on the list. The Opposition needs to stop this nonsense!
