Workers at the National Solid Waste Management Authority (NSWMA) staged a protest this Wednesday morning over outstanding back pay, working conditions at the landfill, and what they described as a breakdown in communication with management.

Around 60 workers from the landfill and waste collection units gathered outside the Multipurpose Cultural Centre to air their grievances ranging from unpaid incentives and a risk allowance they say has fallen behind comparable statutory bodies, to complaints about inadequate bathroom facilities at the landfill and transportation they argue is too small for the roughly thirty workers who report to the site daily.
Several workers also called openly for the removal of General Manager Indira James-Henry, citing what they said was a lack of engagement from the top of the organisation.

Wow
At that time when everybody getting cash by roadside you people strapped for pay. Something wrong and upside down in his place. Listen. Remove your cloths then put on your gassy tshirt. You must get some money!
Big respect to them for standing up
Calling for the manager removal is serious… things must really bad inside there
Honestly, people who deal with landfill deserve better than that. That’s one of the hardest jobs in the country
Government always quick to talk numbers, but basic working conditions still poor. Fix that first.
Come on man. Fix that. These are some of the hardest working people. And they doing a job that most people wouldn’t want to do. I sympathize with them
