Authorities are making a renewed public appeal for help in locating the relatives of three men whose bodies remain unclaimed months after their deaths, warning that time is running out before the state proceeds with burial.
The Office of the Chief Health Inspector, under the Ministry of Health, Wellness, Environment and Civil Service Affairs, issued the appeal on April 23, noting that the deceased are currently being kept at Barnes Funeral Home pending contact from family members.
Officials identified the men as La-Shaune Tunsha Charles, who died on October 19, 2025; Jeffery Cornelius, who passed on March 8, 2026; and Rupert Martin, who died on April 1, 2026.
Despite the passage of time, no relatives have come forward to claim the bodies or make funeral arrangements, prompting authorities to escalate efforts to locate next of kin.
Family members are being urged to act swiftly and contact Barnes Funeral Home, located on Irwing Barnes Close off American Road. Managing Director Jessica Barnes is coordinating arrangements for those who come forward.
Health officials have made it clear that a 14-day deadline is now in effect. If no relatives are identified within that period, the Government will move ahead with interment at a public cemetery.
Authorities also cautioned that once the state carries out the burials, there will be no avenue for legal recourse afterward.
The Office of the Chief Health Inspector is encouraging anyone with information that could assist in identifying or contacting relatives to come forward, as officials seek to ensure the deceased are laid to rest with dignity.
