Residents of Pares Village turned out on Thursday for a community meet-and-greet hosted by Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party (ABLP) candidate Rawdon Turner, in what supporters described as an engaging and people-focused interaction ahead of the April 30 general election.

The event provided an opportunity for constituents to speak directly with Turner, raising concerns about issues ranging from infrastructure and employment opportunities to community development and social support. Attendees welcomed the chance to have open dialogue, with many expressing appreciation for what they described as a listening ear.

Turner, who is contesting the St Peter constituency on the ABLP ticket, emphasized the importance of staying connected to the people he hopes to represent. He noted that meaningful leadership begins with understanding the real challenges facing residents on the ground.

“This is about listening, learning, and working together to find solutions that improve the lives of the people of St Peter,” Turner said during the engagement.

Participants spoke candidly about road conditions, access to utilities, youth opportunities, and the need for continued investment in community infrastructure. Turner assured residents that their voices would play a central role in shaping his approach, should he be elected.

The meet-and-greet forms part of a broader outreach effort by the ABLP as the party intensifies its campaign activities across constituencies. With Nomination Day behind and Election Day approaching, candidates have been ramping up direct engagement with voters.

Supporters at Thursday’s event described Turner as approachable and attentive, noting that his willingness to listen sets a strong foundation for representation.
