Prime Minister Gaston Browne said he felt “vindicated” following a tour of the China-funded Booby Alley housing project, after years of delay and public criticism from the opposition.
Speaking during a site visit, Browne said the project had been delivered within the established timelines and within budget and used the occasion to thank the People’s Republic of China for what he described as one of the most significant capital projects that country has funded in Antigua and Barbuda to date.
Browne confirmed that a competition will be held to rename the community and called on the future residents to keep the development clean.
The Prime Minister indicated that the development represents only the beginning of a wider housing and community upliftment programme, with other communities targeted for similar interventions such as Gray’s Farm, Green Bay, and Potters.
