The high-level regional conference, being held from May 11 to 15, has brought together Commissioners of Police, senior law enforcement officials, government representatives, and security leaders from across the Caribbean to discuss some of the region’s most pressing security challenges.
This year’s conference is being held under the theme: “Organized Crime: Implications for Regional Development.”
It also marks the first time DCP Benjamin-Quashie is attending the ACCP conference in her capacity as Deputy Commissioner of Police.
The official opening ceremony took place Monday at the Royal Torarica Resort in Paramaribo, where delegates gathered for the start of several days of strategic discussions and regional engagement.
Conference sessions are expected to focus heavily on transnational organized crime, firearms trafficking, cybercrime, intelligence-led policing, artificial intelligence in law enforcement, and strengthening regional security cooperation.
The ACCP conference is regarded as one of the Caribbean’s premier law enforcement gatherings and serves as a critical platform for collaboration among police agencies throughout the region.
Officials say the discussions and partnerships formed during the conference are expected to support collective efforts aimed at improving crime-fighting strategies and addressing evolving threats impacting Caribbean nations.
The Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda said its participation reflects its ongoing commitment to strengthening regional and international partnerships, improving operational effectiveness, and promoting professional policing standards across the Caribbean.
