Rotary Club Renovates Classroom for Police Youth Programme
A newly renovated classroom facility has been officially handed over to the Youth Intervention Unit of the Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda by the Rotary Club of Antigua in a move aimed at strengthening support systems for vulnerable young people.
The project, valued at approximately EC$28,000, was completed through a partnership between the Rotary Club and the police youth programme. Renovation works included roof and ceiling repairs, upgraded lighting and bathroom facilities, repainting, and general restoration of the building.
The classroom had previously undergone renovations by the Rotary Club in 2016, but officials said additional work became necessary to improve the facility and create a more comfortable learning environment for participants in the programme.
Speaking during Thursday’s handover ceremony in St. John’s, Rotary Club President Elisa Graham said the organization remains committed to youth development and community service.
She noted that the Youth Intervention Unit continues to play an important role in helping at-risk youth through rehabilitation, education, and personal growth opportunities.

Former Rotary President Paul Ryan also underscored the importance of investing in young people, saying the organization believes no child should be left behind.
Commissioner of Police Everton Jeffers welcomed the partnership and praised the Rotary Club for contributing to the development of the nation’s youth.
Jeffers said policing is not limited to law enforcement, but also involves prevention, mentorship, and creating opportunities for young people to make positive choices.
He also encouraged greater community involvement in supporting the Youth Intervention Unit through mentorship programmes, counselling, skills training, and other forms of assistance for vulnerable youth.
The police commissioner further commended Claudina Nathaniel-Morgan, retired Sergeant Randy Christopher, contractors, Rotary members, and other contributors who assisted in completing the project.
The ceremony ended with prayers and a tour of the newly renovated facility.

I really admire this social club. Thanks for all your assistance
Rotary club is really doing good things. Kudos to all the hard workers there
Prevention is always better than punishment. Programmes like the Youth Intervention Unit can help steer young people away from crime before it’s too late.
Antigua and Barbuda needs more investment in youth programmes, counselling and education if we truly want safer communities in the future.
A better classroom could make a big difference for the programme.
