The coordinated operation, carried out around 4:33 a.m., involved officers from the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) Task Force, Gang and Guns Suppression Unit, Special Services Unit and K-9 Unit, who executed multiple search warrants at several properties in the area.
During one of the searches, officers reportedly recovered a firearm, two magazines, several rounds of ammunition and a quantity of cannabis. One man was subsequently taken into custody on suspicion of unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition and unlawful possession of cannabis.
Police said officers also searched another property in Red Hill where additional quantities of cannabis were allegedly discovered. Two more individuals were taken into custody on suspicion of unlawful possession of cannabis.
In a separate search involving a vehicle, officers reportedly found another quantity of cannabis.
The seized items and the suspects were transported to a police station as investigations continue.
The operation forms part of ongoing efforts by law enforcement to target illegal firearms, drugs and criminal activity across communities.
