The Antigua and Barbuda Defence Force (ABDF) is advising residents and sea users to exercise caution today as it carries out a live-fire training exercise at its Crabbes Training Facility near Parham.

According to the ABDF, the military exercise is scheduled to take place from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and will involve the use of live ammunition as part of routine operational training.

Residents in nearby communities have been urged not to be alarmed by the sound of gunfire or loud explosions during the exercise period, as the activity forms part of the Defence Force’s regular preparedness programme.

The advisory also extends to mariners, with the ABDF warning vessels and sea users to avoid the coastal waters surrounding the Crabbes Training Area while the exercise is underway to reduce any safety risks.

The Defence Force said the drills are essential for maintaining military readiness and national security, emphasizing that public safety remains a priority throughout the operation.
