Minister of Social and Urban Transformation, Rawdon Turner says inclusion and accessibility must remain at the heart of Antigua and Barbuda’s National Theatre of Performing Arts, stressing that every citizen deserves the opportunity to experience the arts with dignity, comfort and equal access.
Turner recently toured the facility alongside President of the Disability Association, Bernard Warner, as part of ongoing efforts to ensure the national project adequately accommodates differently-abled persons.

During the walkthrough, discussions focused on several accessibility features, including wheelchair access onto the main stage, improved mobility within the main hall, and designated viewing platforms to better serve patrons with disabilities.
Turner described the feedback and guidance provided during the visit as invaluable, noting that the adjustments being considered, though small, could make a meaningful difference in ensuring the theatre truly belongs to everyone.

The Minister said the initiative reflects the Government’s broader commitment to inclusion and equal access, particularly in public spaces intended to serve the entire nation.
