The Antigua and Barbuda Airport Authority (ABAA) has launched a new public campaign aimed at preserving the country’s aviation history through photographs, artwork and shared memories connected to air travel in Antigua and Barbuda.
The initiative, titled “Legacy Wall – Honouring Our Past, Inspiring the Future,” will feature a collection of historic aviation images, memorable travel experiences and artistic contributions that reflect the evolution of aviation in the twin-island nation.
According to the ABAA, photographers, aviation enthusiasts, archivists, artists and members of the public are all being encouraged to submit photographs and artwork for consideration as part of the project.
Among the memories highlighted by the Airport Authority is the well-known image of two gentlemen seated on a bench near the observation area outside Big Banana at the former terminal — a photograph many Antiguans and Barbudans continue to associate with nostalgia and earlier travel experiences.
Customer Experience Manager Jan Walker-Brown said the initiative is designed to preserve deeply personal moments connected to the nation’s aviation journey for future generations.
“It’s these deeply personal moments, woven into our nation’s aviation story, that the Legacy Wall initiative seeks to preserve and share with future generations,” Walker-Brown said.
The project will also include a youth art component, giving young creatives an opportunity to have their work displayed at the V.C. Bird International Airport.
Digital submissions can be emailed to the Airport Authority, while printed photographs may be delivered directly to the ABAA addressed to Jan Walker-Brown.
The Airport Authority said the Legacy Wall forms part of its wider commitment to preserving and celebrating Antigua and Barbuda’s aviation heritage while inspiring future generations.

It is indeed nostalgia reminiscing about the old days. I wish they had included the casino in the new departure lounge. That’s the only thing I miss
