Caridocs Launches Initiative to Help Jamaican Nationals in Antigua Navigate Document Processing Challenges
A new initiative aimed at assisting Jamaican nationals living in Antigua and Barbuda with obtaining and processing official documents will be rolled out next month by Caribbean-based immigrant support service, Caridocs.
The organization announced that it will host a Bulk Application Day on June 5, 2026, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Villa Polyclinic Conference Room, offering guidance and support to individuals struggling with documentation requirements tied to immigration, residency and other legal processes.
According to Caridocs, many Jamaicans residing in Antigua continue to encounter serious difficulties accessing essential documents from Jamaica due to high costs, lengthy delays and confusion surrounding authentication procedures.
Principal consultant Nevoy Morrison said one of the most common issues involves applicants submitting documents that are not properly authenticated for international use.
“Many applicants don’t realize that documents must be apostilled before submission. As a result, they are sent back to restart the process, which creates unnecessary delays and expenses,” Morrison explained.
An apostille or legalization process, completed through Jamaica’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, is often required for documents to be accepted abroad.
Caridocs said its role is not to replace government agencies or issue official documents, but rather to serve as a facilitator by helping applicants understand procedures, prepare documents correctly and avoid costly mistakes that delay applications.
The organization has developed what it describes as a more streamlined and cost-effective process to bridge communication gaps between applicants and official institutions.
During the June 5 session, participants will receive assistance with understanding application requirements, completing submissions correctly and reducing delays caused by incomplete or improperly prepared documentation.
Caridocs is also warning members of the public to avoid unofficial “back door” services promising fast-tracked documents, noting that such operations are often fraudulent and can lead to serious legal consequences.
The organization stressed that all legitimate documents must be processed through official channels and properly authenticated before international use.
