The Cabinet of Antigua and Barbuda has approved an Official Funeral for the late Sir Aziz Hadeed, describing his death as a profound national loss.

In a lengthy tribute issued following Wednesday’s Cabinet meeting, Government praised Sir Aziz as a visionary businessman, philanthropist, educator, and patriot whose contributions transformed Antigua and Barbuda.

Cabinet highlighted his role as Chairman of the Hadeed Group of Companies, one of the Caribbean’s most influential business enterprises, as well as his service as a former Senator and Cabinet Minister.

Officials also praised Sir Aziz’s leadership at the The University of the West Indies Five Islands Campus Council, noting that he played a critical role in the institution’s development and expansion.

Government further recognized his extensive charitable work, including scholarships for students, support for vulnerable families during the COVID-19 pandemic, and contributions to healthcare, youth development, sports, culture, and the arts.

Cabinet said the honour of an Official Funeral reflects the nation’s gratitude for a life defined by generosity, leadership, and service to humanity.
