New Chief Justice Appointed to Lead Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court

Her Ladyship the Honourable Madam Margaret Price Findlay

The Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court (ECSC), which serves Antigua and Barbuda and several other territories across the OECS, has officially welcomed Her Ladyship the Honourable Madam Margaret Price Findlay as its new Chief Justice.

The appointment was confirmed following the issuance of letters patent by His Majesty King Charles III, with her tenure taking effect from April 9, 2026.

Her Ladyship assumes leadership of one of the region’s most important judicial institutions after what the ECSC described as a distinguished legal and judicial career marked by exemplary service, strong legal scholarship, and an unwavering commitment to justice throughout the Eastern Caribbean.

As Chief Justice, Justice Price Findlay will oversee the administration and judicial direction of the ECSC, which provides legal oversight for Antigua and Barbuda, Dominica, Grenada, Saint Lucia, St. Kitts and Nevis, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, as well as three British Overseas Territories within the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS).

The Court said the appointment represents a major milestone for the region’s judiciary and reinforces ongoing efforts to uphold judicial independence, regional cooperation, and the rule of law across the Eastern Caribbean.

In a statement, the ECSC praised Her Ladyship’s longstanding contribution to the legal system and expressed confidence in her ability to guide the institution into a new chapter of judicial excellence and innovation.

The Court noted that her appointment reflects both her exceptional contributions to the judiciary and her steadfast dedication to public service throughout the region.

The ECSC remains one of the most influential regional institutions within the OECS, handling civil and criminal appeals, constitutional matters, and High Court proceedings affecting thousands of citizens across Antigua and Barbuda and the wider Eastern Caribbean.
