Two Horses Stolen from Big Creek Farm as Owner Appeals for Public’s Help

A Big Creek farmer is seeking the public’s assistance after two horses were stolen from her property during an apparent overnight break-in.

Farm owner Chantelle Winter said she discovered that thieves had cut through a fence to gain access to the farm before making off with two of her horses. She also reported that a trap had been set on the property.

The theft has sparked concern for the animals’ welfare, particularly because it is not the first time horses have been taken from the farm.

Winter said that on a previous occasion when stolen horses were recovered, they had been subjected to abuse. The animals were returned beaten, with portions of their hair cut off, and suffering from injuries that left lasting scars.

The missing horses are described as a red chestnut male gelding standing approximately 16 hands high and a chestnut female with a blonde mane and tail standing approximately 14 hands high.

Winter is appealing to members of the public, especially residents and farmers in surrounding communities, to keep an eye out for the animals and report any information that could assist in their recovery.

She said her greatest concern is bringing the horses home safely and preventing them from suffering further harm.

Anyone who may have seen the horses, witnessed suspicious activity, or has information regarding their whereabouts is urged to contact Chantelle Winter at 268-720-1171 or the nearest police station.

The owner is also asking the public to share the appeal widely in hopes of locating the animals as quickly as possible.

  1. Three boys had one of those horses next to m&m service station. The horse wouldn’t allow them to mount him and it drew attention, ask the gas station for footage and ask the staff what they say
