National cyclist Tajae Browne is recovering in hospital after he was struck by a vehicle in a hit-and-run incident on the Sir Sydney Walling Highway on Saturday morning.
Video footage captured by a nearby security camera shows Browne riding westbound along the highway when a vehicle traveling in the opposite direction crossed into his path and collided with him, knocking him from his bicycle.
Emergency responders were called to the scene, and Browne was transported to the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre, where he remains under observation.
Speaking with ABS News, President of the Antigua and Barbuda Cycling Federation, Eustace “Manning” Matthew, confirmed that Browne’s injuries are not life-threatening. However, he said the national cyclist remains hospitalized and is undergoing further medical evaluation and treatment.
