Prime Minister Gaston Browne says his administration is making unprecedented investments in sports and the creative industries as part of its broader strategy to empower young people and expand economic opportunities.

Speaking on his Browne and Browne radio programme on Saturday, Browne highlighted several major projects currently under construction.

Among them is the redevelopment of the Potters Playing Field, which will include three covered hard courts for basketball, netball and volleyball, upgraded football and cricket facilities and an Olympic-sized swimming pool.

“We are investing millions of dollars in sports and the creative arts primarily for our young people,” Browne said.

The Prime Minister also pointed to the construction of the new National Performing Arts Centre in St John’s, which he said represents an investment of more than EC$25 million.

He noted that the Government has also acquired a new national stage to support entertainment activities and major events.

According to Browne, the projects are intended not only to improve recreational opportunities but also to stimulate the country’s orange economy.

“We are creating opportunities for entertainers, athletes and creative professionals. These investments are intended to give our young people opportunities to develop their talents and earn a livelihood,” he said.

Browne argued that the developments demonstrate his administration’s commitment to building modern social and cultural infrastructure and creating an environment where young people can succeed.
