Cabinet Meeting of Antigua and Barbuda government
The Cabinet of Antigua and Barbuda has approved an increase in the Passenger Head Tax for international travellers entering and departing the country, raising the levy from US$40 to US$50 per passenger.
The Government said the additional revenue generated from the increase will be used to help meet Antigua and Barbuda’s financial commitments to key regional institutions, including the Eastern Caribbean Civil Aviation Authority (ECCAA) and the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court (ECSC).
According to Cabinet, both institutions provide essential services that are critical to Antigua and Barbuda and the wider Eastern Caribbean. The ECCAA is responsible for maintaining aviation safety and regulatory oversight throughout the region, while the ECSC plays a vital role in administering justice through the Eastern Caribbean judicial system.
Cabinet noted that Antigua and Barbuda derives significant benefits from these institutions and must contribute its fair share toward ensuring their continued operation and sustainability.
The Government stressed that adequately funding regional bodies is necessary to protect the interests of citizens, support economic development, and preserve regional integration and cooperation.
However, Cabinet determined that travel within the CARICOM region will remain exempt from the increase. The exemption is intended to support the free movement of people within the Caribbean and strengthen economic and social ties among member states.
The Government expects the revised Passenger Head Tax to provide a reliable source of funding to address both outstanding and future financial obligations while minimizing the impact on residents and visitors.
The increase will take effect following the completion of the necessary legislative and administrative processes. Further details, including the implementation date, are expected to be announced in due course.

The increase should go to US100.00.
I say $200 US.
Thank God this only targets international travelers cause trust me we in the region cannot manage any kind of hike right now
Small increases add up, especially for frequent travelers.
