Rotary Club Donates EC$10,000 to UWI Five Islands Scholarship Programme
The Rotary Club of Antigua has donated EC$10,000 to the University of the West Indies (UWI) Five Islands Campus to support scholarships for students pursuing higher education.
The contribution was presented during a brief ceremony at Rotary House to Adeola Matthew, Manager of the Student Retention and Success Unit within the Office of the Campus Registrar.
The donation forms part of the Rotary Club’s annual Scholarship Programme and its ongoing partnership with the UWI Five Islands Campus to help students overcome financial barriers to higher education.
President of the Rotary Club of Antigua, Elisa Graham, said the initiative reflects the organization’s continued commitment to education and youth development.
“The Rotary Club of Antigua is proud to continue its partnership with the University of the West Indies Five Islands Campus through this scholarship contribution. We believe that education is one of the most powerful tools for transforming lives and strengthening communities,” Graham said.
“This donation reflects our ongoing commitment to supporting students as they pursue their academic and professional aspirations.”
Graham also acknowledged the work of the Club’s Scholarship Committee, led by Past President Dr. Vanetta Rodgers and Past President Dr. Errol Samuel, for their efforts in administering the programme.
She also recognized committee members Nabia Burton and Yasmine Ephraim for their contributions.
Accepting the donation on behalf of the university, Matthew thanked the Rotary Club for its continued investment in students.
“Partnerships like this demonstrate the power of community,” Matthew said.
“The Club’s continued scholarship support has had a measurable impact on student success and retention, helping to ensure that more students can complete their studies and build brighter futures.”
The Rotary Club of Antigua has supported educational initiatives, youth leadership programmes and community development projects for many years.
Through its partnership with the UWI Five Islands Campus, the organization continues to provide financial assistance to students while promoting academic achievement and leadership development across Antigua and Barbuda.
