The Government of Antigua and Barbuda has appointed attorney André Hill as the country’s new Honorary Consul to The Bahamas, a move aimed at strengthening diplomatic, trade and consular relations between the two Caribbean nations.

Hill’s appointment takes immediate effect.

Following his appointment, Hill met with Minister of Foreign Affairs E.P. Chet Greene and senior officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to discuss his responsibilities and the role he will play in advancing Antigua and Barbuda’s foreign policy objectives.

As Honorary Consul, Hill will serve as a key representative of Antigua and Barbuda in The Bahamas, working to deepen the longstanding relationship between Nassau and St. John’s while identifying new opportunities for trade, investment and economic cooperation.

Director General of Foreign Affairs Ann Marie Layne said Hill will play an important role in promoting Antigua and Barbuda’s interests abroad.

“His role is to identify trade and investment opportunities for Antigua and Barbuda while promoting the country’s interests in The Bahamas,” Layne explained.

She added that Hill will also provide vital consular support to Antiguans and Barbudans living in or visiting The Bahamas.

“Whenever an Antigua and Barbuda national in The Bahamas requires consular assistance or other support, he will serve as the first point of contact,” she said.

Hill brings both legal expertise and a strong personal connection to The Bahamas. A practicing attorney, he has lived in the country for several years and is married to a Bahamian national.

He is also well known in Antigua and Barbuda as the son of former Attorney General Radford Hill and Cecile Hill, the current Registrar of the High Court.

Officials say his legal background, familiarity with both countries and established ties in The Bahamas position him well to enhance bilateral relations and provide effective representation for Antigua and Barbuda
