Relief efforts for earthquake-ravaged Venezuela have received a significant boost after the Halo Foundation, in partnership with Roberts & Co. Attorneys-at-Law, donated US$10,000 to support humanitarian assistance and recovery efforts.

The donation was formally presented to the Embassy of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela in Antigua and Barbuda as part of the ongoing “From Rubble, We Rise” campaign, which seeks to provide critical aid to thousands of people affected by the devastating June 24 earthquake.

Venezuela’s Ambassador to Antigua and Barbuda, Carmen Velásquez, expressed heartfelt gratitude for the contribution, describing it as a meaningful demonstration of regional solidarity during one of her country’s most difficult periods.

She said the earthquake had left an enormous humanitarian crisis, with nearly 5,300 people dead, approximately 17,000 injured, and an estimated 18,000 people displaced from their homes.

While acknowledging the support already received from several countries, including CARICOM member states, Ambassador Velásquez appealed for continued international assistance in the form of financial contributions, medicines, food supplies and building materials.

“Our efforts continue because one suffering person is one person too many,” she said.

The donation was made through the Halo Foundation in collaboration with Roberts & Co. Attorneys-at-Law, led by Governor General’s Deputy Sir Clare Roberts.

Chief Administrator of Roberts & Co., Amsha Ann Eusebe, said the firm was compelled to assist because Caribbean nations understand the devastating impact of natural disasters.

“We are our brothers’ keepers,” she said. “There is no way we could stand idly by while our neighbours are suffering. Antigua and Barbuda is vulnerable to hurricanes, earthquakes and tsunamis, and we know that such tragedies could affect us at any time.”

Representing the Halo Foundation, Sandra Lady Williams praised Roberts & Co. for its generosity and commitment to humanitarian causes, describing the firm as an exemplary corporate citizen.

She said the company had preferred to make the donation quietly but believed it was important to publicly acknowledge its leadership in encouraging others to contribute to Venezuela’s rebuilding efforts.

Williams urged individuals and organisations to support the recovery campaign, noting that rebuilding a nation requires collective action and compassion.

“Nothing is impossible once all hands are on deck,” she said, emphasizing that every contribution—whether financial, material or through prayer—can help restore hope to those affected.

Persons wishing to support the official Venezuela earthquake relief effort can make donations through the designated international relief platforms.
