Two doctors from the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre (SLBMC) are representing Antigua and Barbuda at the 39th Annual Caribbean Cardiology Conference, joining healthcare professionals from across the region to discuss the latest advances in cardiovascular medicine.
Consultant Cardiologist Dr. Lixaidys Springer Toledo and Dr. Bienvenido Bridge, Senior Registrar in Internal Medicine, are attending the conference as part of the hospital’s ongoing commitment to professional development and improving patient care.
The annual gathering brings together physicians, specialists and other healthcare professionals to exchange knowledge on new research, innovative treatments and best practices in the prevention, diagnosis and management of cardiovascular diseases.
SLBMC said continuing medical education remains a key component of delivering high-quality healthcare, noting that keeping medical professionals up to date with emerging research and evolving clinical practices ultimately benefits patients across Antigua and Barbuda.
The hospital also commended both doctors for representing the institution at the regional conference, describing their participation as a reflection of their dedication to lifelong learning and excellence in healthcare.
Heart disease remains one of the leading causes of illness and death throughout the Caribbean, making regional collaboration and the sharing of medical expertise an important part of strengthening healthcare systems and improving patient outcomes.
