Chinese investor and businessman Yida Zhang is in stable condition and expected to make a full recovery after being shot during a suspected attempted robbery at the YIDA Special Economic Zone in Crabbs.
Information reaching Antigua.news indicates that Zhang’s vital signs are good. Although the bullets reportedly damaged his lungs, they did not strike his heart.
Zhang, of Yida International Investment Antigua Limited, reportedly sustained two gunshot wounds to the chest and ribcage during the incident.
He was rushed to the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre, where he continues to receive medical treatment.
The precise circumstances surrounding the shooting remain unclear, but preliminary reports suggest that the incident occurred during an attempted robbery at a warehouse within the Special Economic Zone.
Police are expected to investigate the events leading up to the shooting and identify those responsible.
Zhang is a prominent Chinese investor who has been associated with major development plans in Antigua and Barbuda for more than a decade, including the Special Economic Zone project in the country’s northeast.
