A 20-year-old Clare Hall man has been charged after police allegedly discovered a modified pipe gun and a round of ammunition during an incident in the community.
Sekani Isaac is charged with unlawfully manufacturing a firearm, possession of a firearm and possession of ammunition.
Police said the charges arose from an incident in Clare Hall on Saturday, August 8, when officers reportedly found the modified weapon along with one 9mm round of ammunition.
Isaac is accused of manufacturing the pipe gun without the required gunsmith licence and possessing the firearm and ammunition without a firearm user’s licence.
He was subsequently arrested and formally charged and is expected to appear before the court.
The Police Administration said it remains seriously concerned about the illegal possession and manufacture of firearms and has reaffirmed its commitment to removing unlawful weapons from communities across Antigua and Barbuda.
