Antigua and Barbuda recorded the lowest gasoline and diesel prices across the Eastern Caribbean Currency Union (ECCU) in July 2026, according to the latest fuel price data released by the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank (ECCB).

The ECCB’s Average Fuel Prices in the ECCU report, released on August 17, shows that gasoline in Antigua and Barbuda was priced at EC$14.50 per imperial gallon, the lowest among the eight ECCU member countries.

The country also had the lowest diesel price, at EC$14.25 per imperial gallon. The regional averages for gasoline and diesel stood at EC$17.66 and EC$18.16 respectively.

The figures place Antigua and Barbuda well below several of its regional counterparts. Gasoline prices ranged as high as EC$20.74 per imperial gallon in Montserrat, while diesel reached EC$23.20 in St Kitts and Nevis.

Antigua and Barbuda also ranked among the more affordable countries in the region for cooking gas.

A 20-pound cylinder of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) was priced at EC$32 in Antigua and Barbuda, the second-lowest price in the ECCU. Only St Kitts and Nevis recorded a lower price, at EC$30.

For a 100-pound LPG cylinder, Antigua and Barbuda again had the second-lowest price at EC$155, compared with EC$140 in St Kitts and Nevis. Prices elsewhere in the region climbed as high as EC$288.50 in Saint Lucia.

The ECCB report also points to a broader easing in average fuel prices across the currency union during July.

The average price of gasoline fell by 1.2 per cent compared with June, while diesel also declined by 1.2 per cent. The average price of a 20-pound cylinder of LPG dropped by 1.5 per cent, while the 100-pound cylinder declined by 2.7 per cent.

International crude oil prices also moved lower during the month, falling by 3.1 per cent compared with June. However, the ECCB noted that on August 11, 2026, the price of a barrel of crude oil was 30.1 per cent higher than it had been a year earlier.

The Central Bank cautioned that retail petroleum prices across the region are influenced by several factors beyond international oil prices, including the cost of imported fuel, government taxes, duties and subsidies, as well as wholesaler and retailer margins.

For Antigua and Barbuda, the report uses the retail price for US Waterborne unleaded 87 gasoline and ultra-low sulphur diesel. The West Indies Oil Company Ltd is listed as the local data source.

The ECCU comprises Antigua and Barbuda, Anguilla, Dominica, Grenada, Montserrat, St Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, all of which use the Eastern Caribbean dollar.
