The much-anticipated premiere screening of Love Link Caribbean took place on Friday, August 28, bringing together cast members, producers, media personalities, tourism stakeholders and invited guests for an evening celebrating love, entertainment and the beauty of Antigua and Barbuda.

Held at Weatherills Hotel, the premiere marked the official introduction of the Caribbean reality series, created by Antigua and Barbuda’s own Love Link TV. The production places romance at the centre while highlighting the Caribbean’s vibrant culture, people and destinations.

The evening provided guests with an opportunity to get an exclusive first look at two episodes which kept the audience at the edge of their seat and meet members of the cast who are taking audiences on a journey of relationships, attraction, personalities and unexpected connections.

With Antigua and Barbuda serving as the romantic backdrop, the production also shines a spotlight on the twin-island nation as a destination for romance and experiences.

The premiere comes as the country continues to promote its reputation as the “Romance Capital of the Caribbean,” using the series as another platform to showcase Antigua and Barbuda to regional and international audiences.

For the cast, being part of Love Link Caribbean represents more than simply appearing on a reality show. The series explores the realities of making connections, navigating personalities and discovering whether romantic sparks can develop within a Caribbean setting.

The premiere screening also underscored the growing role of local creatives in producing content capable of telling Caribbean stories for Caribbean and international audiences.

Guests at Friday night’s event were treated to an atmosphere centred around entertainment, networking and celebration, as the production team officially launched the series before its wider audience.

Love Link Caribbean is expected to generate conversations across the region as viewers follow the cast, their personalities and their romantic journeys.

As the series gets underway, producers are hoping audiences will not only become invested in the relationships unfolding on screen, but will also be inspired to experience the warmth, culture and romance that Antigua and Barbuda has to offer.

The premiere therefore served as both an entertainment milestone and a showcase of Antigua and Barbuda’s potential as a location for Caribbean film and television productions.

Among those excited to be part of Love Link Caribbean is Mijah Harrigan of Anguilla, who described his experience on the show as both unexpected and rewarding.

Harrigan said he initially applied without knowing what to expect, but was surprised when he was selected just two days later. “It was quite surprising. I put in this application as, you never know what could happen, and in two days it happened,” he said. The media enthusiast, who is also involved in modeling and music, said the opportunity allowed him to showcase his personality and brand while remaining open to finding love.

“I just thought it would be a good opportunity to showcase myself, my brand, my personality, and potentially find love.” Harrigan also praised Antigua and his fellow cast members, describing the overall experience as a positive one. “It was a beautiful experience. I must say Antigua is a beautiful place, the cast are beautiful people. So overall it was just a great experience, and I’m happy to be a part of it.”

While interviewing one of the producers for the show Jamila Watkins, she expressed that Love Link Caribbean was created out of her passion for reality dating shows and a desire to see Caribbean people better represented on screen. She explained that after watching dating shows from her teenage years, she noticed the Caribbean was largely absent from the genre. Together with her husband, who is involved in production, she decided to create a series that would authentically showcase Caribbean people finding love in the region.

The strong public response to their pilot project, The Mixer, confirmed there was an audience for a Caribbean dating series. Interest from people across other islands also encouraged the team to expand the concept into a wider regional production.

Watkins said what makes Love Link Caribbean different is its celebration of Caribbean culture, people and identity, while giving audiences around the world an opportunity to see the Caribbean represented on a larger scale. She also highlighted the show’s potential to boost tourism, particularly by showcasing Antigua as a romantic destination. The series features the island’s attractions, restaurants and experiences, demonstrating what couples can enjoy while visiting Antigua. Watkins hopes the production will not only entertain viewers but also inspire Caribbean pride and encourage people around the world to visit Antigua for romance, holidays and possibly even to find love.
