Scores of Public Works employees marched from the department’s St John’s headquarters to the Office of the Prime Minister on Queen Elizabeth Highway on Monday, intensifying their demand for thousands of dollars in unpaid remuneration.
The workers have been pressing the authorities for weeks to settle the outstanding payments.
Their latest demonstration follows previous protest action in which heavy-duty equipment and government vehicles were used to block streets as employees sought the Government’s attention.
The workers eventually secured a meeting with Prime Minister Gaston Browne on July 28, 2026. During that meeting, they were reportedly assured that arrangements would be made to pay the outstanding sums within one week.
However, more than a month has passed, and the employees say they are still awaiting payment.
Monday’s march reflected growing frustration among the workers, who are now seeking a firm commitment and immediate action from the Government to resolve the longstanding issue.
Boy, if allyuh work hard, allyuh deserve allyuh money. People can’t be marching for what already belong to them.
