Minister of State in the Ministry of Tourism Michael Freeland says Antigua and Barbuda’s participation in the Monaco Yacht Show is creating opportunities to attract new investment and strengthen the country’s tourism sector.
“Monaco has been a valuable opportunity to put Antigua and Barbuda before people who can help grow our tourism and investment sectors,” Freeland said.
The minister is representing Antigua and Barbuda at the 35th Monaco Yacht Show, where he has been promoting the country’s yachting industry and highlighting opportunities for new business and investment.
During his visit, Freeland attended the unveiling of The Residences at Nikki Beach Antigua on Wednesday evening, following an invitation from Vice President Joseph Valentino after the two held discussions.
Freeland said the event provided an opportunity to connect directly with potential investors and buyers interested in the development and Antigua and Barbuda.
“I had the pleasure of meeting approximately 30 potential investors and buyers and speaking with them about the project and our beautiful country,” he said.
He described each interaction as an opportunity to build relationships and create possibilities for the country.
“Every conversation is a chance to build a connection and open a door for Antigua and Barbuda. I’m proud to be here doing that work,” Freeland said.
The minister departed Antigua and Barbuda on Sunday for the Monaco Yacht Show, one of the leading international gatherings for the luxury yachting industry.
The four-day event, taking place from September 23 to 26 at Port Hercule, brings together yacht owners, charter brokers, shipbuilders, captains, designers, investors and marine-service companies from around the world.
Freeland’s participation forms part of efforts to position Antigua and Barbuda as an attractive destination for yachting, tourism development and international investment.
New investments are good for the country. However, instead of jumping all around the world, try and improve the infrastructure of the country in the meantime. Antigua and Barbuda infrastructure needs a serious facelift, especially the roads and drains, healthcare and facilities, education facilities, water supply and facilities, and the internet services.
