The Organisation of American States (OAS) has officially confirmed the details for its upcoming 55th General Assembly, set to take place from June 25 to 27, 2025, in St. John’s, Antigua and Barbuda.

This announcement was made during a meeting of the OAS Permanent Council in Washington, DC, where Antigua and Barbuda’s Ambassador, Sir Ron Sandals, introduced a resolution to establish the venue, date, and theme for the assembly.

The resolution, titled “Place, Date, and Theme of The Fifty-Fifth Regular Session of The General Assembly,” highlights that this assembly will focus on the theme “Building Resilient, Inclusive Economies in the Americas.”

Sir Ron emphasized that this theme addresses critical regional issues and underscores the importance of resilience and inclusivity as member states tackle shared challenges, regardless of their size.

He also pointed out that incorporating the word “building” signifies a commitment to continuous progress.

The inclusive nature of the theme allows all member countries to represent their unique priorities while contributing to a unified goal of enhancing the lives of citizens across the Americas.

The resolution received unanimous support from the Permanent Council, reflecting a collective commitment to these ideals.
