Skerrit’s new look government officially sworn in

Dominica’s Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit and the members of his cabinet were officially sworn in earlier today, with ministers taking their oaths of office to form the Government of Dominica.

The swearing in took place at the Windsor Park Sports Stadium Forecourt.

Skerrit who is at the center of controversy after calling a snap election two and half years before it is constitutionally due presented his plans for a “national reset” that will take place from 2023.

He told those gathered that his new plans will be to develop the country and its people. Skerrit also promised that his government will ensure that they enact laws to ensure disabled people have access to buildings.

The newly re-elected PM also talked about ensuring that the school’s curriculum will cater to Dominican children to receive a holistic education to ensure that they reach their true potential and take up opportunities in technical and vocational fields such as carpentry and tiling.

“Why should our children be taught dancing and ballet at schools? We have people who are born with a certain talent that God has given to them but the current system is not encouraging that talent to come forth There will be national consultation on the matter,” he stated.
