Jaafar Jackson will portray Uncle Michael Jackson in new biopic

One year ago, the Jackson family announced that plans are underway to produce a new movie depicting the life and career of the late King of Pop, Michael Jackson. After a long search for who best fits the role of Michael Jackson, the producer of the movie Graham King has settled for Michael’s nephew Jaafar Jackson.

Mr King said he launched a worldwide search for someone who could play the role perfectly and he was “blown away by the way [Jaafar] organically personifies the spirit and personality of Michael.”

“It was clear that he is the only person to take on this role. I am beyond thrilled that he has come on board to portray his uncle and cannot wait for the world to see him on the big screen as Michael Jackson,” Graham King, the movie’s producer, added.

Jafaar, 26, couldn’t hide his excitement for being chosen to play his uncle in the movie that could shake the world.

“I’m humbled and honoured to bring my Uncle Michael’s story to life. To all the fans all over the world, I’ll see you soon,” Jafaar wrote on Twitter.

Prince Jackson, son of Michael Jackson, said he was proud and happy for his cousin for working hard enough to earn his father’s role in the upcoming biopic.

“Just being himself, he embodies so much of my dad and I’m confident we are all going to do our best to show the world a part of my father they’ve never seen and that they deserve to see,” Prince wrote on Instagram. “This project means so much to me for many reasons, I’m really happy that my family and I can go on this journey together.”

Last year, Michael’s family, in a statement, announced the plans to produce a new Michael Jackson biopic with the title “Michael.” The film, being made with the cooperation of the Michale Jackson Estate and the Jackson Family, will be produced by Graham King, and the screenplay is by John Logan. Production is expected to begin this year.

“Michael” will give audiences an in-depth portrayal of the man and our brother who became the King of Pop. It will bring to life Michael’s most iconic performances as it gives an informed insight into his artistic process and personal life,” Jackson’s family said in a statement last year.
