US Ambassador to Eastern Caribbean prioritizes regional security enhancement.

Roger Nyhus, the newly appointed United States Ambassador to Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean met with the Antigua and Barbuda Chamber of Commerce members to discuss his priorities and strengthen relationships with the country.

After presenting his credentials to Governor General Sir Rodney Williams and Prime Minister Gaston Browne, Ambassador Nyhus met with the Chamber of Commerce at the Royalton Hotel.

During the luncheon, the Ambassador explained that President Joe Biden chose him with a specific mission to deepen connections and strengthen relationships between the United States and the Caribbean region.

He emphasized his priorities, which include fostering and promoting economic prosperity for all, enhancing regional security, and addressing the impact of climate change.

The Chamber of Commerce expressed its willingness to work with the Ambassador to build new partnerships and improve existing ones.

President of the Chamber, Yves Ephraim, welcomed the Ambassador to the island and expressed his enthusiasm for the new chapter in the friendship between the US, Antigua, and Barbuda.

Ambassador Nyhus, based in Barbados, will be taking over from former Ambassador Linda S. Taglialatela.

His arrival is seen as an opportunity to strengthen ties between the United States and the Caribbean region, and to foster economic growth and prosperity.
