The father of Ricknaldo Isaac, a 26-year-old prisoner who died in May following an alleged confrontation with a prison guard, continues to seek justice for his son.
Isaac, who was serving a one-year sentence for malicious damage, passed away while receiving hospital treatment after reportedly being left paralyzed due to severe spinal injuries.
The circumstances surrounding Isaac’s death remain unclear. Some speculate that his pre-existing epilepsy condition may have caused a seizure, complicating the situation.
Colonel Trevor Pennyfeather, the prison administrator, confirmed to Observer on Friday that police investigations are ongoing, with statements still being collected.
Aaron Isaac, the deceased’s father, expressed his deep concern to Observer, fearing that authorities might bury his son without notifying him. “I don’t want him to be buried anyhow. I want a happy funeral for my child. I want to see how my child is buried. I want to know the cause of what he died from. He died in the custody of the government. nI need proper justice for my child,” he stated.
Aaron wishes for his son to have a proper funeral service at the Seventh-Day Adventist Church on Tindale Road.
Remembering Ricky as a high achiever in school, Aaron spoke of his son’s talents and the impact of his death on the family. Ricky leaves behind four siblings and a four-year-old daughter.
“We had a lot of communication. I never tried to give up on him because I know he was going through a lot of drama. He’s very bright, in anything that he do, he will succeed,” Aaron recalled.
He also highlighted Ricky’s love for nature, gardening, and singing, describing him as a cheerful person. The loss has been particularly hard on Ricky’s young daughter, who constantly asks to see her father.
As the investigation continues, the family awaits answers and justice for Ricknaldo Isaac’s untimely death in custody.
