Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre Receives Generous Donation from Do Blue Inc. to Support Urology Services

Press Statement

Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre is pleased to announce a generous donation of over $34,000 XCD from Do Blue Inc. (a prostate cancer foundation).

The donation will support urological care by acquiring a cystourethroscopy.

Cystourethroscopy is one of the most common procedures performed by a urologic surgeon. It allows for direct visualization of the urinary system, including the bladder and supporting organs.

“From the inception, the Do Blue Inc foundation was set up to give back. It may be through education in the form of awareness campaigns, screenings and supporting programs that improve the care provided to our community, said Pedro Corbin, a founding member of Do Blue Inc. “Our mandate is to respond to local needs, and this is what we’re doing with this donation today. This is our first donation to the hospital, but certainly not our last.”

“The donation towards flexible cystoscopy services at Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre is greatly appreciated,” said Dr. Adrian Rhudd, SLBMC Urologist. “This device is critical in investigating and diagnosing various urological conditions, including cancers of the prostate and the bladder. This generous donation will enable us to do more for our patients and the citizens of Antigua & Barbuda. We are grateful to Do Blue Inc. for their generosity helping modernize urological care at our hospital.”

“It didn’t take long for Do Blue Inc. to say yes to our outreach,” said Salma Crump, SLBMC Marketing & Communications Manager.

“Their contributions are consistently focused on solving problems and helping to improve the lives of many in our communities. We tremendously appreciate their support of one of the most in-demand healthcare specialties, ensuring that our patients will have the highest quality health care when and where they need it—and that’s close to home. We hope they inspire others who want to make a difference.”
