Tragic Bee Attack Claims Life of 39-Year-Old Truck Driver

Yesterday, Daniel Darrell, a 39-year-old truck driver from Tabatinga in Central Lethem, Region #9, tragically lost his life due to a bee attack.

The incident occurred at approximately 11:30 am along Hunt oil Stretch in Central Rupununi.

Reports indicate that Daniel and his 13-year-old son, Daniel Darrell Junior, were traveling on a motorcycle towards Central Lethem when they were suddenly attacked by a swarm of African bees.

Both fell from the motorcycle, and while the son was able to escape to safety, the father was overwhelmed and became motionless on the ground.

A passing minibus rescued Daniel Junior, who was then rushed to Lethem Regional Hospital, where he is currently in serious condition.

Daniel Darrell Senior was sadly pronounced dead at 1:34 pm, after being attended to by medical personnel.

His body has been taken to Lethem Hospital Mortuary, pending a post-mortem examination.

In response to the situation, Yimochi Melvill, a 42-year-old beekeeper from Culvert City in Central Rupununi, was called to the scene to ‘smoke out’ the bees, ensuring the safety of others in the area.
