A man from Bendals is now in serious but stable condition at the Sir Lester Bird Medical Center after he was shot in the shoulder in Yeptons last night.
According to reports, the 58-year-old man was in a car with a female companion at around 11 p.m. when the incident took place
State Media reports indicate that a car drove up alongside the parked vehicle when the Bendals resident started his vehicle and attempted to drive away. However, the driver of the other car reversed and blocked his path. Two shots were fired at the car with the Bendals resident, one of which hit him in the right shoulder.
The gunman fled the scene while the injured motorist attempted to drive himself to the hospital.
Reports are that he was met along the way by police and the Emergency Medical Services and transported to the hospital.
His female companion was not hurt but was said to be suffering from trauma
