Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party Senator Caleb Gardiner has been appointed as a diplomat in the Washington Embassy of Antigua and Barbuda.
Gardiner is the youngest senator to ever be appointed.
Chief of Staff in the Office of the Prime Minister Lionel Max Hurst says consultations with the Gardiner were held on Wednesday
He said he welcomed the opportunity to serve abroad in one of the most challenging postings of any diplomat.
Upon his departure from the Senate, another appointee will be selected to fill the political vacancy.
