The planned two-day retreat for Caribbean Community (CARICOM) leaders in Dominica next week has been canceled.

The retreat, originally scheduled for August 18-19, was postponed without providing a reason but sources suggested that some of the expected attendees would not be able to attend.

Trinidad and Tobago’s Prime Minister, Dr Keith Rowley, stated during a press conference that he would be traveling to Barbados for a vacation with his family and to discuss the future of West Indies cricket with a few individuals.

The retreat was intended to review several reports, including regional governance and strengthening functional cooperation before the next mid-term summit in Guyana.

The leaders hoped to discuss issues that matter to the average person in the Caribbean Community, such as trade barriers, governance, and climate financing. However, the retreat’s specific agenda was not disclosed.
